Abstract:
The preface introduces the collected volume on the theme of responsibility, a topic that profoundly touches the essence of the human person and its being-in-the-world as part of a relational dialectic. This dialectic is not a mere coexistence—that is, a mutual being-there of reciprocally absolute poles facing one another—but necessarily entails being a responsible agent, while continuously refining the manner in which responsibility is exercised in response to the demands of the times. Such a task admits of no final completion: it reflects an ongoing moral progress that concerns the very notion of responsibility itself.
