Synopsis (from the Introduction):

As Aristotle stated in Book IV of the Metaphysics – that being is said in many ways – the same can be said of responsibility, a multifaceted concept that takes on different meanings depending on the context in which it is examined, evolving across moral, legal, institutional, and societal frameworks. The significance of this concept and the need to rethink it across different contexts are reflected in numerous ongoing studies in fields such as environmental ethics, artificial intelligence, moral philosophy, law, and economics. Under the title Responsibility an interdisciplinary conference organized by SAFI – Societas Aperta Feminarum in Iuris Theoria was held in Verona (Italy) from September 29 to October 1, 2022, bringing together philosophers and legal scholars. Most contributions in this issue originate from that conference while also incorporating insights from ongoing discussions among the society and its members in subsequent years. The issue thus presents six contributions that explore responsibility from diverse philosophical and legal perspectives.
